A wandering baby Jupiter could help explain why there are no plants closer to the sun than Mercury and why the innermost planet is so tiny. Scientists are studying the possibility that the formation of Jupiter absorbed most of the matter in the formation of the planets and suggests why the inner planets are smaller.
